A video of your home will capture the space as it should be and give remote buyers peace of mind that they’ve “toured” the property, even if they can’t come to see it in person. Including powerful visuals in your home listings is paramount to standing out and generating more leads, reaching your asking price, and completing the sales promptly.

However, if you have never put your home on the market or used video marketing solutions to speed up the real estate process, you may not see the benefit of utilizing real estate videos. At Ground2Air Media, we understand that you need all the support you can get and thus use our photography and videography skills to ensure your property sells like hotcakes. To help you get started, we’ve prepared this checklist of things you should do to prepare to shoot your real estate video.

1. Mow the lawn and manicure gardens

A well-manicured lawn and garden can make a big difference in the overall appearance of your home. Mow the lawn, trim the bushes, and remove any dead plants or leaves to make your yard look neat and tidy. Remember, the first impression goes a long way toward a quick sale.

2. Place cushions on outdoor furniture and open umbrellas

Outdoor furniture can be an essential selling point for your home, so make sure it’s looking its best. Add cushions to chairs and sofas and open umbrellas to provide some shade and create a welcoming atmosphere.

3. Mop and vacuum floors

Clean and well-maintained floors are essential for a good impression. Vacuum carpets, mop hardwood or tile floors, and make sure there are no scratches or scuffs.

4. Clean the kitchen sink and put away dishes

The kitchen is often the heart of the home, so make sure it’s clean and tidy. Clean the sink, put away any dirty dishes, and make sure the countertops are clear and clutter-free.

5. Declutter kitchen countertops

In addition to putting away dishes, it’s also important to declutter the countertops. Remove any unnecessary items, such as appliances or knick-knacks, to make the space look larger and more inviting.

6. Hide trash cans, pet food, and bowls

Trash cans, pet food, and bowls can be distracting in real estate photos, so it’s best to hide them away. Store them in a pantry or closet until after the shoot.

7. Remove all shampoo and body wash from showers

Remove all shampoo, soap, and body wash from showers and bathtubs to create a minimalist and uncluttered environment.

8. Replace all burnt-out bulbs

Make sure all the lights in your home are working and bright. Replace any burnt-out bulbs to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Advice from the pros

About fifteen minutes before our photographer arrives, we suggest you turn on all lights (including lamps) and open all blinds, shades, and curtains. Ensure the toilet seat lids are down, unlock the side gate to the backyard (if applicable), turn on fireplaces and hot tub lights/jets, move all vehicles out of the driveway, and do some last-minute cleaning. Be ready to temporarily vacate the premises for the duration of the shoot.

By following this complete checklist, you’ll be able to prepare your home for real estate photos and videos with ease, showcase your home in the best possible light and help it sell faster.
